This men's cuffed beanie is a short waffle knit acrylic hat that sits on the crown of your head instead of swallowing it. Low rounded crown, deep turned-up cuff, and it stops above your ears rather than pulling down over them. If every beanie you own is too tall to look right at the trailhead, this is the shape you have been looking for.

It is knitted in 100 percent acrylic with a coarse waffle texture, a grid of small raised squares that catches the light where a plain rib stays flat. The cuff is a doubled band a third of the hat's height, which is what holds the shape and keeps it where you put it through a full day outside. One size stretches from 55 to 60 cm (21.6 to 23.6 in) around, so there is no size to guess at across the crew at camp.

Through the cold half of the year, at the trailhead in October, on a boat dock at dawn or at the fire ring after a full day out, it is the hat you reach for because it looks right, not because it is the warmest thing you own.

Two things worth saying plainly. It is acrylic, not wool, and we would rather tell you that than let you assume. And because the crown is short, it does not cover your ears. On a cold morning above freezing this is the right hat. Below freezing you will want to layer a buff or trade up to a fuller beanie.
