Waterproof Poncho – Military Style Basha Tarp and Groundsheet with Eyelets

The Activearo Military Style Poncho is a hooded rain poncho that also pitches as a camping tarp and lays flat as a ground sheet. Most rain gear does one job and then rides in your pack all day. This one keeps earning its space after the shower passes.

It is one large rectangle of coated synthetic fabric, about 210 x 140 cm (82.5 x 55 in) when opened flat, with a drawstring hood in the middle. Brass grommets at the corners let you tie it out between two trees or stake it over your gear. On the Classic style, snap buttons close the throat, small snaps run down both side edges so you can close them into loose sleeves, and the inner face is a pale silver grey.

Wear it on the trail with your daypack underneath, pitch it over the camp chair when rain rolls in, or put it down on wet grass at the riverbank, so the one thing you packed for rain is cover for you, your pack and the ground you sit on.

Key Features:

• Pitches as a simple camping tarp with the brass corner grommets - tie it between two trees or stake it low over a pack and a camp chair.
• Lays flat as a ground sheet on wet grass, giving you a clean place to sit, cook or set your pack down.
• Long, wide pull-over cut drapes over a daypack you are already wearing, so the pack goes under the poncho with you.
• Classic style has snap buttons at the throat and snaps down both side edges - close the sides into loose sleeves when the wind starts pushing the poncho open.
• Drawstring at the hood pulls the opening in around your face so the hood stays put while you walk.
• Pocket style adds a large front pouch pocket and a stiff peaked brim on the hood - your phone stays within reach and the brim shades your eyes.
• Folds into the included 23 x 7.5 cm (9 x 3 in) drawstring stuff sack at about 300 g (11 oz) packed, small enough for a pack lid, a glove box or a tackle bag.

One thing worth saying plainly. The test report the maker supplies covers chemical content, not water, and there is no water rating on record, so we do not call this poncho waterproof. As a tarp it is a basic rain cover, not a tent, and stakes and cord are not included. Like every poncho it catches strong wind, and it works as a poncho or as a tarp, not both at the same time. The measurements come from the maker's diagram of the Classic style.
