Women's Padded Bike Shorts – 3D Gel Chamois with Flatlock Seams for Road and Spin
Forty minutes in, you start shifting. Standing on the pedals for a few seconds. Sitting back down a little differently. By the time you get home you are not tired — you are sore, and the soreness is the part that decides whether you ride again on Sunday.
That is almost never a fitness problem. It is a contact problem. All your weight lands on two small points, a seam runs right through where your thigh meets the saddle, and the hem of your shorts has been slowly climbing since mile two.
Here's how it works.
The pad is moulded, not stacked. It has a three-dimensional shape with a raised centre and tapered edges, so it fills the space between you and the saddle instead of sitting on top of it as a flat slab. Pressure spreads across the pad's whole footprint rather than concentrating where you sit.
It is shaped for a woman's contact points. That sounds like marketing until you have ridden in a men's pair, where the padding is longest exactly where you do not need it and thin exactly where you do.
The seams are flatlock. Instead of a raised ridge on the inside of the thigh, the panels butt together and the stitch lies flush, so there is nothing standing proud to rub for two hours.
Each leg finishes in an elasticated band. The hem holds where you put it rather than rolling up your thigh every time you stand.
What we can't tell you.
We have no lab data on this fabric, so you won't find a moisture-wicking rating, a breathability figure or an hours-of-comfort number anywhere on this page. Plenty of shorts carry those claims off nothing more than a supplier's spec sheet. We would rather tell you what the garment is made of and how it is built, and let you judge.
One thing worth knowing before you order: these run small. If you are between sizes, take the larger one.
