You spot fish working the far end of the bank. Getting there means a quarter mile of loose rock with a rod in one hand — and every time you want to change a lure, the pack comes off, goes down in the mud, and you kneel over it.

That's the trade every bank angler makes: a sling you can reach, or a pack you can actually walk in. This one doesn't ask you to pick.

Here's how it works.

Two shoulder straps that clip together into one. Left apart, they work like any backpack and the weight sits square across your back for the walk in. Joined at the top with the connector strap and its buckle, the two become a single wide band that goes over one shoulder — and the pack rides across your chest or on your hip as a crossbody sling. Two carries, one bag, and the change takes seconds.

The lid opens flat from there. Inside, 2 to 3 tackle trays stack level instead of tipping into a pile, so the tray you want is the tray you see. Re-rig standing up, hands over the water, pack still on.

Bungee lacing runs down both side flanks, with a sleeve at the base for a rod butt or a landing net handle. Rod stowed, both hands free for the scramble down.

At 1.8 lb empty and 11 x 15.7 x 7.9 in, it is sized for water you walk to — not the 40-liter staging packs built for a truck bed.

The gear it replaces:

  • A shoulder sling — fine for an hour, punishing over three miles on one strap.
  • A hard tackle backpack — top-loading, so every lure change is a full stop and a kneel.
  • A daypack plus a separate rod tube — two things to carry and nowhere to put a wet net.

What's in it:

  • Convertible carry. Two straps for the walk in. One strap to rotate it forward and open it without taking it off.
  • Flat-opening clamshell. The main compartment lays open so the whole tray stack presents at once.
  • Tray capacity. Holds 2 to 3 stacked tackle trays plus a line box.
  • MOLLE front panel. Add pouches as your kit grows instead of replacing the bag.
  • Dual side bungee lacing. Rod, net, or a folded jacket lashed down on either flank.
  • Drawcord bottle pocket. Open-top side pocket sized for a standard water bottle.
  • Padded mesh harness. Shoulder straps and back panel vented where the pack sits against you.
  • Front organizer pocket. Zippered, with contrast piping and a hook-and-loop panel on the lid.

What's in the box: the pack only. It is sized to hold 2 to 3 standard tackle trays, but the trays themselves are not included.

Two straight answers before you order. This is a water-resistant pack, not a waterproof one: it sheds a shower, but in sustained rain pack a dry bag for anything that must stay dry. And the lid takes 2 to 3 flat utility trays — measure the ones you already own before ordering, because the trays themselves are not included.
