Here's how it works.
The compact body sits flat against the chest, held by an adjustable shoulder strap and an underarm strap that stops the pack from bouncing when you're wading or walking. High enough on the torso that shallow water doesn't reach it — chest-deep is where the pack starts to get wet, not thigh-deep.
