The zip runs a quarter of the way down, and that is the whole temperature system. Pull it down and the opening vents heat off your chest and neck. Pull it up and the stand collar closes over your throat, which is the part of you that actually feels cold first. No hood bunched behind your neck. No scarf to carry, lose, or explain.
The face of the fabric is a chevron jacquard knit, not a flat fleece. You can see the zigzag from across a room. It is the reason this reads as something you chose rather than something you were given at a conference, and it is the one thing here a cheaper pullover cannot copy by writing a better description.
There are three pockets. Two for your hands, and a zipped one on the left chest set into a black woven panel. That chest pocket is the one that earns its place in winter, because when you pull a coat on over the top, your side pockets disappear and it does not.
