This weather radio is a pocket-size hand crank radio with the NOAA weather band, AM and FM and a 4000mAh power bank, made to keep you informed and lit when a winter storm takes the power down. At 8.8 oz it fits in one hand and slips into a glovebox, a go-bag or a kitchen drawer.
The tuner covers FM 87 to 108 MHz, AM 520 to 1710 kHz and the NOAA weather band from 162.40 to 162.55 MHz, with a telescopic antenna, a tuning dial and a volume dial. The 4000mAh battery charges by USB-C, by the solar panel on top or by the fold-out hand crank, and a USB-A output passes that charge on to your phone. A flashlight with high, low and SOS strobe modes sits in the front end, and a reading lamp folds up and rotates 180 degrees to light the room.
Wondering whether a radio this small can last through a long outage? On a full charge it is rated for 12 to 20 hours of radio, 10 to 15 hours of flashlight or 3 to 8 hours of reading light. Keep it topped up by USB-C, leave it on a sunny windowsill, and turn the crank when there is no sun and no outlet. Press the SOS button and it sounds a loud siren with a flashing light.
