You make two trips from the car. First the tackle bag and the rods, then back for the cool box, because there was never a way to carry both. By the time you are set up you have walked the path three times and the drinks have been sitting in the sun.
This carries all of it at once. A structured insulated cooler on top, a tackle base underneath, and rod holders on the side so your hands stay free the whole way in.
Here's how it works.
The pack is two rigid compartments stacked, not one soft cavity with dividers in it. The top is a foil-lined cooler measuring 11.75 x 8 x 8 in (30 x 20 x 20 cm), with a lid that folds flat so you can reach in without unpacking it. The bottom is a structured tackle base sized to take flat utility boxes standing square, so they do not tip and turn your lures into a tangle on the walk.
Because the cooler is rigid rather than soft, it holds its shape as it empties. A soft cooler sags and everything inside starts moving around. This one does not.
The rod holders sit on the side, so the rods travel on the pack instead of in your hand. The front of the cooler carries a MOLLE panel for pliers, a net clip or a pouch. There is a separate insulated side pocket for a bottle, which means you can drink without opening the cooler and letting the cold out.
Underneath there are moulded feet. They lift the base clear of the wet rock, the mud and the boat deck you are actually going to set it down on.
It stands 17 in (43 cm) tall, and the shoulder straps are padded and adjustable, which matters once both halves are full.
The gear it replaces:
-
A separate cool box — the reason you were making two trips.
-
A soft tackle bag — boxes tip, dividers sag, everything migrates.
-
A rod sleeve carried in your hand — one hand gone for the whole walk in.
What's in it:
-
Insulated cooler compartment — foil-lined, 11.75 x 8 x 8 in, fold-flat lid.
-
Structured tackle base — holds flat utility boxes upright and square. The boxes themselves are not included.
-
Side rod holders — rods carried on the pack, both hands free.
-
MOLLE front panel — add pliers, a net clip or a pouch where you want them.
-
Insulated side pocket — bottle stays cold without opening the cooler.
-
Moulded ventilation feet — base sits clear of wet ground.
-
Front zip pocket with a reflective strip — visible on the road walk out.
-
Padded adjustable straps and a top haul handle — for when both halves are loaded.
-
Two colourways — camouflage or plain black.
